If there’s one man who has capitalised on the meteoric rise of social media in the automotive sphere, it’s Ted Gushue. The Connecticut-born, London-based photographer, writer and editor has carved an enviable career documenting the glamorous places and events he tirelessly travels to and the fascinating characters he meets along the way, all on Instagram and in his instantly recognisable style. Think Slim Aarons crossed with Ernest Hemingway – a sun-dappled ode to a beautiful, bygone way of life. “Our time is limited,” he earnestly proclaims, “and I intend to see as much as I can as quickly as possible.” A former DJ and editorial director, the insatiably curious Gushue now heads his own digital strategy consultancy, working with brands to harness the power of social media. His most prominent client is Porsche, for whom he expertly curates Type 7, a burgeoning and kaleidoscopic Instagram-only magazine aimed at attracting the next generation of Porsche enthusiasts. That’s especially fitting because Gushue is a Porsche guy, born and bred. In fact, he was taken home from the hospital when he was born in a 911 SC and still daily drives his 911S, which he had shipped from Los Angeles to London when he relocated to Europe. We’re delighted that Gushue will be joining our host JP Rathgen for the next instalment of Classic Driver Live to chat about the art of travelling, cars and, of course, Instagram. Tune in live on our Instagram channel on 2 June from 1900 CET/1800 BST or catch it afterwards either on our IGTV channel or right here on this page.
