Vühl 05: mid-engined Mexican superstar

One of the most dramatic debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend will be the Vühl 05 – a mid-engined Mexican supercar...

It’s been designed by two brothers, Guillermo and Iker Echeverria, whose father built and successfully raced his own cars for 30 years. According to Iker, the new car “has been developed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts”, and it certainly boasts astounding performance. Thanks to a dry weight of 695kg, plus a 2-litre, 285bhp turbocharged Ford EcoBoost engine, the Vühl – intended for both road and track use – belts to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds and promises a top speed of more than 150mph.

Iker continues, “We were determined to create a highly intuitive machine that was both stirringly fast and immense fun to drive – a car we ourselves would want to own.” So that's what they did.

Look out for it at Goodwood this weekend, along with the many other world public debuts expected at Thursday’s Moving Motor Show, ahead of the full, three-day Festival of Speed, from the McLaren P1 and Alfa Romeo 4C to the Range Rover Sport and Vencer Sarthe.
