Pushing Ps: This Pagani Zonda LM Roadster just sold for 11,000,000 dollars

We’ve seen some jaw-dropping lots pass through RM Sotheby’s blocks this year, but at their Dubai sale last weekend, history was made when a one-off Pagani Zonda 760 LM Roadster sold for $11 million!

Nowadays, we’ve come to expect eye-watering price tags for a car brand’s finest creations. In hypercar language, a car isn’t work looking at unless its surpassing that 1,000 horsepower mark, nor if it doesn’t cost over $1,000,000 in its SE or base spec configuration (we’re still waiting for a hypercar to come with plastic wheel trims and manual windows, please). However, there are some exceptions to the rules, and Pagani have a way of rewriting that illusive rulebook with every new ‘final’ edition they produce.

This weekend, we saw one of the Italian brand’s finest creations make history, where the one and only Pagani Zonda 760 LM Roadster sailed under RM Sotheby's hammer ahead of an excited room and was eventually snapped up for a staggering $11,036,250. The "One-Off" concept and the special series, which today is better known as the Grandi Complicazioni series and showcases the Zonda Tricolore, the Zonda Cinque, and the Zonda 760. This trio represent the pinnacle of the product range for Pagani and are a result of state-of-the-art knowledge, technological application, driveability, and safety.

Compared to the others in the trio, the 760 LM is directly inspired by the heritage of motorsport. The client asked Pagani to create a new Zonda model inspired by the Le Mans sport prototypes. The result isn’t simply a fresh bodykit on an existing Zonda, but instead it required a dedicated aerodynamic study due to the uniqueness of the shapes in order to optimise the vehicle’s extreme performance. Under the giant rear clam sits a 7.3-litre naturally aspirated V-12 engine, mated to a seven-speed sequential gearbox and a plethora of dynamic innovations built specifically for this car only.

As the original Pagani Zonda is due to reach its 26th birthday in 2025, it is truly incredible to see the desirability and admiration for the marque and model is still just as high as it was back in 1999. RM Sotheby's Director of Sales Oliver Camelin had this to say about the Zonda, "It’s truly an honor for us to have had the chance to sell this amazing car, one of Horacio Pagani‘s masterpieces during our Dubai sale. This result being a worldwide record for a road car produced in the 21st century at auction also shows that time are changing and that modern hypercars are entering the realm of true greats as well in terms of value as in appreciation from collectors." If you’re itching to experience a Pagani of your own, we currently have eight incredible examples to choose from!
