Max out luxury and exclusivity with this Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf

Are Rolls Royces and Maybachs simply to common for your tastes? Are you fond of retro-inspired car designs? Then this super-rare Aston Martin Lagonda could be your ideal luxury saloon.

Here in the Classic Driver office, we’re rather partial to a retro-inspired car design, and Aston Martin absolutely nailed the brief when they rebooted the wonderfully wedgy shape of the original Lagonda in 2014. Based on the already-stunning Rapide, this 2015 Lagonda Taraf perfectly remasters the key elements that made the 1970s version a cult classic, namely that squared-off front, wide headlights, and the recognisably angular silhouette.

While an original production run of 200 was planned, only 120 of these long and low limousines made it to the roads, each with an eye-watering sticker price of 1 million dollars; more than enough to discourage any of those plebeian Rolls Royce jockeys. Naturally, such an exclusive automobile could only be powered by a 12 cylinder engine, and the Taraf’s 6.0-litre V12 produced a might 533 bhp, driving the real wheels only via an eight speed automatic. Capable of dispatching the 0-60mph sprint in 4.4 seconds and reaching a mighty 195mph, the Taraf is easily one of the fastest luxury limousines of all time.

This stunning example has spent most of its life in the Middle East in dry storage, meaning it’s still in outstanding condition today. Finished in Topaz Gold paint with an Ivory Gold pearlised leather interior and directional 10 spoke Satin Champagne diamond cut wheels, this is as close to a brand new Taraf as you’re likely to find. So, if the sight of another Spirit of Ecstasy fills you with existential dread, this rakish Taraf — coming up for auction at The Bonmont Sale with Bonhams on June 18th — could be the perfect palate cleanser for you.
