Jump the queue and snag the first HWA 190 E EVO II restomod

It’s a car that has the retro-modern motoring world waiting with bated breath for its release, and RM Sotheby’s upcoming sale in Tegernsee will feature the chance to secure the first ever restomod of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic 190E EVO II.

If you’re not yet up to speed on the eagerly awaited rebirth of one of Mercedes-Benz’s best sport saloons, we’ll give you a quick rundown. HWA, which is short for its founder, Hans Werner Aufrecht, is a name synonymous with high powered Mercs. He was one half of AMG, where he was the creator of some of the brand’s most exciting and timeless icons, captivating generations of enthusiasts and collectors all over the world. Despite being something of a silent partner in the preparation of multiple championship winning machines, HWA set a new goal with their restomod, based on the iconic 190 E EVO II. We've spoken at length about this ambitious project, but now it seems the very first one is going to a lucky new owner.

Now, after months of excitement and teasing, RM Sotheby’s upcoming sale in Tegernsee will host the auction of chassis 000, the first ever HWA EVO. This modern reinterpretation of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II is meticulously handcrafted with state-of-the-art technology, blending the famous boxy design with contemporary performance features, comfort, and safety.

The auctioning of this first production model will undoubtably be a pivotal moment for the HWA team, and the numbers certainly seems to agree. RM Sotheby’s have set the estimate at a staggering 700,00 to 900,000 euros, and after this sale, HWA will continue to allocate build slots for the remaining vehicles.
