The Holman Moody Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt... it's coming to the UK

UK-based historic motorsport enthusiasts are in for a treat, as the famous battleship-grey 7-litre racing saloon will be running at Donington Park over the weekend of 13-14 October.

The car will be driven by one of its joint owners paired with the always-rapid Henry Mann - son of legendary team manager, the late Alan Mann - in an hour-long race, part of the Masters weekend.

They’ll have their work cut out, though, as the super-quick saloon will be up against a mixed grid of World Sportscar Masters cars (Le Mans-type Group 4 prototypes, built from the mid-1960s up to 1974) and Sports Racing Masters (for pre-1966 sports-racing cars).

Whatever happens, we known the car (and its drivers) will give it everything. It has, after all, won the Nürburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix Historic Marathon and finished second overall in the Spa 6 Hours.

And it’s another excuse to show you two videos of this very special machine.

The car is scheduled to run in the World Sportscar Masters 60-minute race on Sunday morning. As with any sporting event, though, do check with the organisers before setting out, as the exact timetable is subject to change.
