Chelsea AutoLegends 2012 takes a bit of a 70s ‘Cool’ theme, along with Le Mans and F1 celebrations, all in a stunning, central location for the many millions of people living in and around London.
Recently announced highlights include the Bloodhound SSC (SuperSonic Car), “a pioneering piece of British engineering that next year will attempt to break the Land Speed Record” – which currently stands at 763mph. But the Bloodhound team is not just aiming for 764mph: the ultimate goal is to reach 1,000mph in 2014, thanks to a jet engine, bespoke hybrid rocket, F1 V8 petrol engine, pencil-shaped, aerodynamic design – and Land Speed Record-holding hero, RAF Wing Commander Andy Green, at the, er, wheel? Does this thing have a steering wheel? You’ll have to trot along to Chelsea AutoLegends on Sunday to find out.
