“Bringing sculpture into the fourth dimension,” Calder is said to have created the first mobiles in Paris in the late 1920s, and brought about a new perspective on just what sculpture entailed. A new exhibition at the Tate Modern is celebrating the modernist artist’s theatrical, entrancing artwork, including some of his collaborative projects in the fields of film, theatre, music and dance.
