11th June 2002 Christie´s at Jack Barclay, Vauxhall, London Review

At the London sale on 11th June, the top lot of the auction was the sports racing Jaguar D-type, chassis number XKD 530, which was sold new to Norway and raced as part of the Scuderia Askolin. It was bought for £357,250 by the owner of the ‘second’ car, so the two will now be reunited.

But perhaps the most exceptional result of the evening was the £159,250 achieved for H.R.H. Prince Michael of Kent’s magnificent 1981 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI limousine - more than triple the pre-sale estimate. In total, over £850,000 worth of cars and automobilia were sold.
