Manufactured by Aston Martin in 1959 to Left Hand Drive for export to Italy, DB4 chassis no: DB4/217/L has more recently been completely rebuilt, to full 1961 DB4GT Zagato specifications, by acknowledged and renowned Aston Martin restorers.
Completed in 2022, this painstaking recreation of the iconic DB4GT Zagato is finished appropriately enough, in Aston Martin Racing Green with a Connolly Tan VM847 hide interior. Painstakingly researched and built over several years to the highest standards and to a superb specification.
Equipped with a freshly built and uprated engine to 4.7 litre capacity, utilising a factory supplied ‘twin plug’ DB4 GT cylinder head and internally equipped with Carrillo con-rods and forged pistons, a triple set of Weber 48 DCOE carburettors and enlarged manifolds. The engine specification, coupled to the freshly rebuilt ZF 5 speed transmission, driving a fully rebuilt and uprated LSD rear axle assembly, provides stimulating and exceptional performance. Dynamometer tested and delivering over 420 Lb ft of torque with similar brake horsepower.
The chassis, now fitted with all aluminium body panels hand formed from a highly accurate body buck, was fitted by restorers, Bodylines Ltd of Olney and painted by sister company Spray-Tec Ltd of Wellingborough, to the highest standards. Masterminded by Adrian Johnson Aston Martin restorers of Otley, Yorkshire, who’s restoration skills completed the final assembly.
Equipped with all new suspension, brakes and running gear manufactured to original specifications, including an uprated front anti-roll bar and Girling CR aluminium brake callipers, operated by the original DB4GT Zagato type twin circuit system.
Fitted with newly constructed Borrani alloy rimmed and stainless spoke wheels, equipped with Michelin tyres, this beautifully finished and presented example, is not only a tribute to its constructors’ skills but also a fitting tribute, to the original DB4 GT Zagato masterpieces constructed in 1961. In delivery mileage condition, less than 200 miles have been covered since completion in 2022.
UK road registered and available now, due to changed circumstances, we are delighted to offer this superb recreation, rare in Left Hand Drive and ready to grace any collection or enjoyed as intended, on the open roads or on the track.

Model notes:
The DB4GT Zagato, of which just 19 were manufactured, was the first model of a line of Aston Martin produced in association with Italian carrozzeria Zagato. Bearing the Zagato hallmarks, of lightened weight and improved aerodynamics over the manufacturers production variant, with Italian proportions and styling cues. Built in period, to compete in international sportscar racing, the beautifully styled and proportioned DB4GT Zagato has, since and over the last 60 years, become one of the most sought after and iconic cars in the world, coveted by collectors and connoisseurs of the motor car, world-wide.
Whilst undoubtedly, not 1 of the original 19 built, this superb DB4 identified and reconstructed example, of a Zagato design Icon, is available at a fraction of the cost of its esteemed brethren.
