Jean Ragnotti, in a test drive for the magazine Echappement in 1972, described the CG 1300 in these terms: "I sincerely believe that the new CG 1300, especially in its 95bhp version, is a remarkable little sports car, worth knowing (...) ". The ultimate evolution of the CG coupe, the 1300 received the engine of the Simca Rallye 2 which could benefit, as an option, from a special manifold and a pair of Weber 40 DCOEs making it possible to develop 95bhp. It also benefited from numerous modifications bringing it to "maturity" and allowing it to be easily compared with its direct competitor, the Alpine.
The car we are offering is quite simply exceptional. A fine connoisseur of the brand, its current owner acquired it in January 1981, when the car had belonged to a Sarthois since 1975. It was painted in its original color in the early 1980s, which today has a superb patina, just like the remarkably preserved interior. In 2010, the garage Clément carried out many works including the repair of the brakes, the replacement of silent blocs, change of bearings, and complete repair of the cooling system… the invoice totaling more than 2,800 €. Then, in 2017, the engine, which originally had the "95bhp" kit, as well as the gearbox were entrusted to well-known specialist Christian Brusseau. The engine was completely redone and benefited from a "Sport" preparation which bumped up max power to 115bhp. The cost of the works exceeded € 14,000. In perfect mechanical condition and in a rare state of preservation, this example is probably one of the most desirable.
