Beschreibung
"The Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 until 1980, it was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was slightly narrower and shorter than the Silver Cloud, which it replaced, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging made possible by its construction. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes instead of drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous cars. The car’s most innovative feature was a high-pressure hydraulic system licensed from Citroën, with dual-circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension. At first, both the front and rear of the car were controlled by the levelling system; the front levelling was deleted in 1969, as it had been determined that the rear levelling did almost all the work. Rolls-Royce achieved a high degree of ride quality with this arrangement. This stunning example, presented in metallic Willow Gold with a full black leather trim, was first registered on 14th November, 1975. In 2016, this example was subject to a comprehensive restoration my marque specialists, Mark Taylor Rolls-Royce and Bentley Ltd. of Chichester, West Sussex to the tune of £33,500. Contained within the history file is a full invoice from Mark Taylor detailing the works, several old MoT test certificates documenting the low mileage and the invoice for a full repaint. The chromework is excellent as is the interior trim and wood cappings. The inside of this Rolls-Royce is truly a wonderful place to sit whether driver or passenger. The present owner informs us that the car has been serviced when necessary and performs excellently. A Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in this condition is a rare thing and, with such low mileage, this is genuinely a collectors example of the ever popular majestic British classic. Offered at a sensible estimate and presented in such splendour, viewing of this example is highly recommended."
