"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
The Jaguar XJS produced from 1975 through to 1996 replaced the E-Type, although it never had quite the same sporting image. The XJS was more suited to grand touring and was actually more aerodynamic than the E-Type. Its 21 year production would see more than 115,000 units built, the last of which was produced in April 1996. Originally, power came from the Jaguar V12 petrol engine with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission; however the manual was soon dropped after it became evident that the XJS V12 engine was most suited to a smooth automatic transmission. From July 1981, the XJS received the new High-Efficiency engine for much better economy; as a by-product, power was increased to 295bhp. During this transformation, the XJS received changes to its exterior and interior with new five-spoke alloy wheels, chrome inserts on the upper part of the bumpers and wood inserts on dashboard and door cappings. This wonderful example presented in Sebring Red over a Saville Grey interior was supplied new by Evans Halshaw, Birmingham. It has had a modest seven registered keepers from new, although two were part of the same family from 1987 to 1996. The Jaguar was treated to a new mohair hood in 2017 amongst other works totalling over £3,000 and more recently it has been maintained in a private collection. The sizeable history file includes an extensive record including the original service book containing thirteen stamps between 1986 and 2003 at 64,402 miles, bills of sale dated from 1987, 1996 and 1999, various invoices dating between 1987 and 2006, a Jaguar Driver's Club letter, old tax discs and the owner's handbook and wallet. This beautifully presented example is offered with a fresh MoT test certificate and is reported to drive very well and is ready to be used and enjoyed by a new custodian.
The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
