Beschreibung

"Introduced for 1956, the Austin Healey 100/6 represented the most radical step forward in the development of the ‘Big Healey’. Despite its initial success, sales of the original Austin Healey 100 had begun to decline by the mid-1950s and so the model was revamped as the 100/6 using the BMC 2.6 litre C-Series six-cylinder engine replacing the four-cylinder Austin Atlantic engine. This six-cylinder, pushrod engine produced 102bhp, twelve horsepower more than its predecessor, though the inevitable weight gain meant that there was little improvement in performance, the cars top speed remaining around 103mph. At the same time, the wheelbase was increased by two inches from 7’ 6” to 7’ 8”, which enabled the inclusion of two seats in the rear of the BN4 variant. Although stylistically very similar to the earlier model the 100/6 was nevertheless easily distinguishable by its ‘crinkle’ radiator grille and the bonnet top air intake. In 1957, an improved engine became available and this 117bhp unit was fitted to all the newly introduced BN6 two-seater roadsters. Top speed improved to 111mph and 1.7 seconds was cut from the 0-60mph time.
Presented in Yukon Green with beautifully trimmed leather stitched bucket seats and wood rim steering wheel with contrasting white hardtop, this example was supplied new to California. Since then this 100/6 has been repatriated and converted to right hand drive during its subsequent full restoration. The fully encompassing works include a new chassis, all aluminium body panels and a fully overhauled engine complete with fuel injection and Emerald ECU. That not only means that this 100/6 is a lot more reliable than a stock car, but it also develops a lot more power. Fitted with Mini-lite style wheels all with a good set of matching Vredestein Sprint Classics for handling. The bushes and tie rods have also been upgraded recently, with new braided lines for fuel and copper lines for brakes, coupled with facet electric pump in the boot with accumulator. In the interior some modern upgrades to the stereo and USB charging equipment can be found. A stunning Mille Miglia eligible example at a fraction of the cost of the restoration."
