Although us as well as many period magazines, the AC is one of or probably the best driving sports car of the 50?s. The handling as well as the power is fantastic. One can drive relaxed with an AC but it can be used very well on race tracks as well. It isn?t strange that Cobra has used the AC as a base. It is just a fantastic race car as well. In comparison with the Aston Martin DB2?s and Jaguar XK 120, the AC Ace was in the time prized by many magazines as the perfect car to both race and used as a touring car. The AC Ace made its debute in 1953 at the London Motor Show and production began in 1954 and continued through 1963. The AC consisted of a light-weight tubular chassis with steel boxes in the front and rear which supported a transverse leaf and lower wishbone independent suspension system. The chassis was very well designed and one looked very well to the place of the engine to give the car an optimal balance. If you look to the front of the car, you might have recognized the grille of the Ferrari 166. This because the Ferrari 16MM Barchetta which was made by Touring of Milan was the inspiration car for the designers of the AC Ace. During the first year of production, there were fewer than 60 examples produced. These were all Aces - convertibles. The Aceca, a hard top variant was debuted in 1954. Due to the vehicles light weight, optimal weight distribution, responsive engine and handling, and stylish appearance, it attracted much attention. This specific example is a very impressive car. The looks of the car are excellent because of the fantastic color combination. But more unique is the condition of the car. The car has been restored and during the restoration the car has been brought in the condition and specification which it had when it left the factory. The AC was then black with dark red inside. Technically, the gearbox and the engine have been completely overhauled by specific Bristol specialists in the United Kingdom. This was not the cheapest option but the result is absolutely amazing. It is an impressive example of a car which has a superb handling on the road but has amongst that also superb lookings. Please take the time to look for some seconds to the different pictures. If you follow the lining and then specifically from the backside of the car, then you see how nicely these cars are made. It is almost unbelievable that it was possible to produce these cars with these linings in 1956. A total of 151 ACECA?s have been made and, due to its rarity, in recent times has become a true "blue chip" investment, based also on a surprising competition background. We have had quite a lot Aston Martin DB2s in our life. After approximately 70 DB2 and DB2/4s we think that we can separate the nice examples from the less nice examples. This specific grey example is one of a kind. The car is in every aspect very impressive. The color combination makes it a very attracting car to look at but inside the car is very nice and cosy. Although the car is extremely nice restored, one can sit very well in the car. It wouldnt be the first car which has been over the top restored on such a way that the leather looks nice but a normal sit is not possible anymore. If one drives this example, it is a typical DB2 with a fantastic sound, and quite a lot of power. But actually it is probably even nicer to look at the car then to drive it. If you should take a chair to look at the lines, you would not believe that it was possible to design but more important, to create this car in 1951. Please take the time to look at a picture of this DB2 which has been taken from the side. On this picture you can see the impressive lines from the back of the car till the door. This is made without any interruption. Also the back of the car is unique. The roundings of the back of the car makes it for most people unclear what sort of car it is. If people see the front and the bage of Aston Martin, then the reactions are undescribable. During the last show we have had different Aston Martin?s on our stand including a DB2 and a DB4 and a DB6. We have asked quite a lot of people what is the nicest looking car. The honest people who didnt know anything about prices are telling us what we knew when we bought our first Aston Martin DB2 in 1998. The shape is much more special and more unique then the shape of a DB4, a DB5 or a DB6. Nevertheless until now the prices of these DB2s have not reached the prices of the DB4, 5 or 6 yet but it wouldn?t surprise us if we have to delete this sentence in the near future. But now back to this Grey DB2. Overall the car is extremely nice. Everything has been restored including the engine, the drive train, the clutch, the brakes etc. etc. It has been a nut and bolt restoration. The doorfittings are excellent, actually a bit nicer then it was originally when the DB2 left the factory. Anyway, if you are looking for one of the nicest DB2s on the market please contact us. This Aston Martin currently has an UK V5 registration. We can off-course arrange all the export documents and we can organize transport all over the world. Amongst this Aston Martin DB2 we always have a wide range of Aston Martin DB2s in stock including MKI, MKIIs and MKIIIs as well as convertibles.
