Although us as well as many professional writers of articles the AC Ace is one of or probably the best driving sport scar of the 50?s. The handling as well as the power is fantastic. One can drive relaxed with an AC but it can be used very well on race tracks as well. It isn?t strange that Cobra has used the AC as a base. It is just a fantastic race car as well. In comparison with the Aston Martin DB2?s and Jaguar XK 120, the AC Ace was in the time prized by many magazines as the perfect car to both race and used as a touring car. This specific example has a very nice history. When new, the car was ordered by a lade, named Jan Waugh. She owned two AC Aces, the other being the famous 650 BPK which was a very successful car in the 1959 Le Mans race. This example was ordered at the motor show in 1953 after Mrs Laugh met the designer of the chassis. She was impressed and after a year, her car left the factory on the first of may 1954. The AC was directly used for a number of speed events and completed the London Rally in 1955. where it started its historical life. In 1955 the car was sold to a garage named Rootes Limited which was located in Maidstone, Kent. This garage sold the car to a gentlemen named Gordon Web who was also living in Kent. He did some repair work on the car because the car had an accident. It was sold for 230 Sterling Ponds and in 1972 it was again sold to mister Roger Keith Wright who purchased the car at the 25th of June 1972 for ? 120,- Sterling ponds. In 1998 the car changed name but was kept in the same family. It can be assumed that mister Richard Simon Wright was the son. He owned the AC since 1998. The car has been in 1 family ownership for at least 30 years. It was extensively used and therefore, the history file is so impressive. The car has raced all sort of races. In 2004 the car has undergone an extensive and symphatetic mechanical and cosmetic renovation. The mechanics have been completely overhauled and rebuilt where necessary. The 2.6 litre Ford Rudd speed engine which is in the car was completely rebuild and blueprinted. The engine has just been redone and has been used since then on some race tracks. A new clutch has been installed in September 2011. It is an amazing car. The looks are off-course superb but with this engine, it is almost dangerous to drive. This car really gives an amazing feeling if you push the gas. It is actually build as the best possible specification AC. So in short; this is a unique AC with a lot of known history including race history. The first lady owner of the car has written some documents which are still in the binder. It is a unique find and a car which is in a nice condition. The AC Ace with AC engine is eligible for the Mille Miglia and this car was originally delivered with an AC engine For more information or an appointment, please call Rutger Houtkamp+31625098150 or send an e-mail to Rutger@Houtkamp.nl.
