Introduced in 1921, the Packard Single Six brought the quality and luxury for which Packard was justly famous to a much wider market. Refined over the next several years, it easily outsold the Eights introduced in 1923 and formed the core of Packard s model range until its last year, 1928. 1923 brought the Six 4-wheel brakes. A much better engine of 289 cubic inches and 81 brake horsepower with improved lubrication, a standard oil filter and solid four-point mounting was added to the model in its last year, 1928. The quality and refinement of the Packard Sixes from 1925-1928 has been recognized by the Classic Car Club of America s designation of them as Full Classics (tm) eligible for all the club s events and shows. This 1928 Packard Model 533 Six Phaeton has a long history among Packard collectors attesting to both its appeal and its quality. It was part of the famed Nethercutt Collection and was a California car during much of its early life following delivery in San Jose and as evidenced by a 1969 California pick slip among its documentation. It is finished in deep green with black fenders with a primrose yellow beltline accented in burgundy across the doors. Primrose yellow wire wheels match the beltline accent with chrome lockrings, wide whitewall tires and dual sidemounted spares with strap on mirrors. Equipment includes a set of Trippe driving lights, radiator stoneguard, dual windshields, wind wings, a Motometer and donut chaser radiator mascot. The restoration has aged very well with sound paint, chrome (some of it recently replated), interior, upholstery and a newer beige cloth soft top. Most importantly, it runs superbly and is nearly silent when running. It will be superb on the highway or around town with plenty of room for family or friends to enjoy the Classic Packard experience.
