This is a very rare and interesting car, a genuine Right Hand Drive Lancia Flavia Convertible by Vignale. It is finished in Red with Tan leather interior and is in a very nice condition.

Launched in 1961, the Flavia saloon maintained Lancia's enviable reputation for advanced and innovative automotive engineering. Designed by Antonio Fessia and inspired by his Cemsa prototype of 1947, the Flavia was Italy's first series-production car to employ front-wheel drive. Carried well forward of the front wheels, the engine was a 1,488cc, overhead-valve, horizontally-opposed four; suspension was independent at the front and by beam axle at the rear, and there were dual-circuit, servo-assisted disc brakes all round.

The saloon was joined by the shorter-wheelbase Pininfarina-styled Coupé in 1962, the latter providing the basis for a convertible version by Vignale. An attractive four-seater sports car, the Convertible enjoyed the stability, comfort, and handling virtues common to the rest of the range.

In 1963 the range was updated with a 1,800cc engine, which when installed in the Coupé and Convertible produced 92bhp, good enough for a top speed of 173km/h (107mph). Only 835 Flavia Convertibles were produced with the 1.8-litre between 1963 and 1965, plus a further 43 fitted with fuel injection up to the end of 1966.

It is thought that there are only 20 or so RHD cars existing today which makes this a very rare opportunity. Our car is finished in Red with a lovely Tan leather interior. It is an older restoration which still appears well today but there are a few little areas that could be improved upon.

Our car has a large service history including original sales brochures and a large service history going back to the early eighties. It was originally owned by Sir Basil Spence and has only had 4 owners from new. It was restored at great expense in the Nineties and still looks nice today.

Interior: The Tan leather is in a superb condition and the carpets appear to be new, all the instruments work and it is a very comfortable place to sit.

Exterior: The Red paintwork is very good all over although there is the start of some bubbling at the lower edge of the boot lid. The wheels are good and the tyres are new. The chrome work is also fine.

Mechanical: The car starts and drives nicely and we have just spent £1000 on a full service, the car has not driven many miles in recent years and really needs a good period of regular use to blow out the cobwebs.

Summary: This is an incredibly rare car in a great condition for a very realistic price, I expect to sell this car very quickly as I have seen LHD restoration projects for the same money. It has a new MOT, is Tax free and is ready to go. It has a great history, is in a great colour and is a very rare opportunity to buy a coach built Lancia at a great price.
