Didn't we all enjoy ourselves last weekend? Again? Yes, another Revival has come and gone and — occasionally inclement weather notwithstanding — it was a good one.
It's easy to become blasé at the sight of so many stellar cars in one place. And yet, time after time, the Goodwood team mixes things up to inject a freshness to the meeting, absent elsewhere on the historic motorsport calendar.
Period shops and wild and wacky displays apart, there was, for example, the presence of a super–rare Maserati Tipo 151 on the grid of the TT. And the 'very 1960s TV' motorcycle scramblers... and an awful lot more.
They'd also put on an all–E–type race, removing the 50th–birthday cars from the TT altogether. And it was from this grid that I'd select my 'car to take home'. A simple red–with–black–hardtop roadster on narrow wires, with standard arches, chrome bumpers and bucket seats. Seventh overall proves that it's not always what you've got; it's what you do with it.
And, on that note, a holiday beckons — so I'll bid you goodbye for a couple of weeks.
