I write these words on Thursday, greatly looking forward to this weekend's concours d'elegance at Villa d'Este — an event I have yet to attend.

While not being the world's number one fan of styling projects, there's no denying — quite possibly by virtue of the strict entry criteria — that a concept viewed with Lake Como as its backdrop is, in any sense of the word, 'special'.

One project which won't be there is the exciting mid–engined coupé you can read about this week. As the first part of a story exclusive to Classic Driver, we tell you how the all–Danish design team came up with the concept and their ideas on how it will progress over the next few months.

Messrs. Hermann, Brandt and Hartvig ('HBH') will be at Villa d'Este, though, and I look forward to learning more there.

While the weather in Northamptonshire doesn't always match that of Lake Como, the name 'Silverstone' is as synonymous with motor racing tradition as the world famous Concorso d'Eleganza is with style. I was fortunate enough to attend the opening of the new 'Silverstone Wing' this week and stood, goggling at the enormity of it.

And I mean that quite literally – not just a reference to the magnificence of the project which was completed in just over a year. It is also blooming enormous, but has — one assumes — been constructed to Mr Ecclestone's strict requirements and is suitably 'future proof'.

So that will be either a 50–car grid or monster truck racing, then.
