You wouldn't do it, obviously, as you are all such a nice bunch of people, but if you wanted to annoy me, the question "now what's your favourite car, Steve?" is a sure–fire way of achieving it.
I do have one, naturally; it's just that in many cases (sweet–faced old ladies... wet–behind–the–ear sprogs), the person posing the question is unlikely to know what on earth the blessed thing is. With modern cars, 'favouritism' is always slightly transient, as there'll be another, even faster/more desirable model coming along every year or so.
But with classics, you can nail your colours to the mast and pretty well go down with the ship defending them.
The reason I bring this up is the Linden Green Ford GT40 Roadster you see heading this week's newsletter. I spent some time behind its wheel last week and make a pretty strong conclusion at the end of the piece.
And, with 2,400,000 – 2,900,000 euros jingling in my trouser pocket I know where I'd be heading on 21 May this year.
