EDITORIAL
1000 cars. Today, that's just a murmur on the graph of any of the main motor manufacturers, let alone worldwide production. But, go back 50–or–so years, and it was a very significant number for luxury sporting car maker Aston Martin.
The DB4 comfortably exceeded that figure in its lifetime, creating styling cues that live on in certain aspects of today's cars, as well as establishing a firm(er) financial foundation for one of the world's most sought–after marques.
All those present at last weekend's superb celebration organised by the Aston Martin Owners Club, and particularly Saturday's Newport Pagnell day, courtesy of Works Service, would agree that it was a very special model indeed, and that its place in the motoring pantheon is assured.
It's the Goodwood Festival in a couple of weeks' time. Don't forget to book some tickets and, to get you in the mood, do look at the video included in this week's preview. I bet they had to get the Hoover out...

DB5 Convertible 299 KGD has been known and looked after by ourselves since 1978, during which time the car had minimal use up to February 2006 when we purchased the car. At this point the car had the original paintwork and interior and has never had any accident damage. The car was stripped to a bare shell. The body removed and acid dipped and rebuilt by Bodylines with a powder coated chassis and bodywork repaired and refitted.
It was then repainted the correct shade of Aston Martin Silver Birch. The rest of the car was then rebuilt by ourselves to the highest standards.
A perfect, immaculate car which has been subject to a no-expense-spared rebuild to the highest possible standard with perfect history, correct documentation, original log book etc.
The vehicle is supplied with correct jack, tools, tool roll and handbook. Fitted correct optional Borrani wire wheels and wing nuts and supplied with Becker retro radio system.

This Chevron B16 was sold to Swiss driver Arthur Blank in 1970 via the then importer, Jo Siffert. The car, after only a few hillclimb events, was raced at Hockenheim where it was badly damaged. It was then rebuilt by a prominent Swiss team (Spartan), who converted the car to a B19 spec, after which the car was raced in Switzerland.
The car has a continuous history from original sale to present day. With the exception of only one other B16, this is totally unique. There is an impressive history file with period photos and documents.
