EDITORIAL
I don't know what it's like where you live, but I've noticed recently that the price of fuel seems to have risen somewhat.
So much so, that discussions around the dinner table at Le Mans last weekend included not only the inevitable "What would you get for £100,000?" but also the relative prices of fuel in the UK and France, how many times we'd filled up on the way down, and so on.
Oscar Wilde would, at that point, no doubt have claimed tiredness and retired to his bed, eager to be up early for his pre–booked 11 o'clock crossing. However, the point has been made: it's all getting a lot more expensive, and going that little bit longer on one tank makes all the difference.
As it did for Audi with a superb win over the lightning–fast Peugeots, made possible by lasting just a lap–or–so more before refuelling, not to mention one of the all–time–great drives from Scotsman Allan McNish.
With impeccable timing, considering all of the above, two Land Rover enthusiasts who met over the internet (I think there's a clue there...) have created the Bell Aurens Longnose, an 'Off–Roadster'.
Do read the story, I think it will amuse you.
