Editorial

It’s all very green at the moment with each manufacturer trying to out-do the other in the energy and fuel-efficiency stakes. And quite right too, we all have to have a responsibility for the future health of the planet and looking at the latest ‘daily driver’ C-Class from Mercedes you could not, in all honesty, need anything more than one of these with the top-spec petrol or diesel engines, loaded up to the gunwales with extras, and emitting less CO2 than a herd of Friesians.

The issue is of course with the highly visible supercars, much targeted by the environmental lobby but in total I would imagine hardly raising a flicker on the gas-guzzleometer of the living world. Ditto classic cars, I think everyone is prepared to make some sacrifices to save the planet, yet still enjoy rare moments of motoring pleasure…two of which I experienced this week behind the wheel of a Bentley Continental GTC and Ford GT.

Both in the same day - courtesy of P1, the prestige and performance club that’s recently opened the doors to its North of England offices, just a few miles away from Crewe in fact. Full details to come.
