Editorial

Well, the furs have been returned to cold room, the uniforms cleaned, pressed and mothballed for another year; the 2006 Goodwood Revival has happened and it’s another 12 months before next time. Another good one, all would agree, despite some slightly inclement weather on the Saturday.

I had the opportunity to chat to Scuderia Toro Rosso F1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi while he waited in the collecting area before practice. You’ll remember last year, driving the 1965 Plymouth Barracuda in the St Mary’s Trophy, he set the track alight with an extraordinary driving display in just one gear – 4th.

This time he was down to drive the Lister Costin Coupé and things didn’t really work out all weekend, but just a few words with the young guy who is more used to piloting infinitely faster machinery on modern circuits with run-off areas stretching to infinity and beyond, revealed a natural enthusiasm for the sport that’s never really apparent on TV. No, the car wasn’t so fast for him. Yes, it was great fun sliding around the circuit, and No, he wouldn’t want to go off…

I clearly have a promising future as a tipster as my nap a couple of weeks ago for the TT win showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels. A magnificent win and congratulations to all concerned.

Goodwood aside, we’ve been having some fun recently in the Overfinch modified Range Rover Sport, and you can read all about it below.
