Editorial

I’ll let you read the feature below to find out all about the Ferrari 599 GTB, suffice it to say it has to be the most complete supercar ever made and the experience of two days behind the wheel was an unforgettable one.

And now Ferrari will be conducting another epic ‘road trip’, slightly longer this time but also in 599 GTBs, travelling from Brazil to New York, starting in a month or so. The aim is clearly to prove the durability of the cars over a long distance and also give many 1000s of people the chance to see one of the most famous brands for the very first time. This follows on from last year’s “Ferrari 15,000 Red Miles” event that saw two 612 Scagliettis cross China.

We were at the London Motor Show this week and you can see what was going on in the feature in this week’s Classic Inside. I don’t know what it is about British shows but they seldom have the ‘wow factor’ of their continental and US equivalents.

Jaguar launched the XKR, and Aston Martin announced a ‘track day’ version of its highly successful V8 Vantage but that was really just about it.

Nothing much to get hot under the collar about – unless you ventured outside the air-conditioned halls as London is currently sweltering in a 36°C heatwave.
