Editorial

The idea to produce a limited edition, large format, very high quality calendar for 2003 was born in high summer, over conversations with Michael Cooper in his beautiful Surrey garden about our current advertising campaigns that include his work. Already the subject of one of Palawan Press's luxurious books and producing his own, highly collectable, series of prints, Michael was very enthusiastic about the whole project. Looking through his vast collection of 1960's photos was a truly inspirational experience and has resulted in the 2003 calendar we have on sale today. There is a 'twist' to the way the months run, which will become evident to all buyers, and this meant endless discussions of which car for which month. Rest assured Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lotus, Jaguar, Porsche and some stunning F1 shots are all included.

Having seen some proofs 'hot off the press' I am convinced we have come up with a winner, and have produced a truly unique collectable, (only 500 will be printed and signed by Michael), which will be talked about in months to come. Full details, plus some examples of the photographs, are in a special Feature on Classic Driver this week.

The only problem we have now is finding a theme for 2004.

The fabulously engineered cars offered for sale by BMW in those days were too expensive for all but a small number of very rich people...
