Premiered at the SIHH Watch Salon, the Tonda 1950 Special Edition takes inspiration from a spiral shape, and a combination of vertical and circular grilles allows the wearer a voyeuristic view into the mechanics of this elegant timepiece. Meanwhile, the Calibre PF 701 movement – manufactured in-house by Parmigiani – is one of the thinnest in the industry, measuring just 2.6mm; impressive, considering the 42-hour power reserve. According to the company, almost all of the watch’s components were designed by Parmigiani himself.
The case of the Special Edition Tonda 1950 is made entirely of titanium, and comes with an alligator leather strap by Hermès. Named as a tribute to Michel Parmigiani’s year of birth, the Special Edition will be limited to 60 examples.
