$37,928 was the advertised POE price of a Mercedes-Benz 600 LWB Pullman Limousine in 1972. Put in perspective, that would have bought five Lincoln Continental sedans, with enough change left over for a nice Ford. The 600 Pullman was -- and in many respects still is -- the finest, most prestigious, luxurious, comfortable automobile on the road, with legendary Mercedes-Benz quality, the finest appointments and a 300hp overhead camshaft V-8 with 434 lb-ft torque. This is one of just 38 units built in 1972 and was recently purchased from the son of the original lady owner. Always chauffeur driven for her, it was maintained by a single specialist shop from new and is absolutely complete in all respects including the original blue leather upholstery, Becker Grand Prix AM-FM radio, division window and bar compartment between the rear seats. A Denon cassette stereo has been installed in the rear compartment, which also is wired for a mobile telephone. Some time along the way, however, it received a sadly deficient repaint in dark blue which is now crazed and shrinking. There are some body and bumper dings and the grille is dented. The engine compartment is aged but complete and the air suspension system is functional. The interior wood trim is in good, sound condition. This is an unusually sound and complete example of this highly desirable Mercedes-Benz model, one of only 487 built in total with this body style in seventeen years in production. Restored, or mechanically rejuvenated and given the paint and bodywork it deserves, it will once again be one of the most prestigious, comfortable, luxurious and distinctive automobiles on the road.
