| In 1988 Porsche built a run of just 875 cars, the Commemorative Special Edition to celebrate the production of 250,000 911 models. These cars featured a number of unique features including the Diamond Blue exterior colour and Silver/Blue leather interior with Ferry Porsche’s signature on the headrests. The cars featured a comprehensive equipment level as standard including painted wheel centres, sunroof, electric seats, short shift gear lever and luxury carpet option. As with all limited production models these cars have become very desirable and are rarely available for sale. This example has covered 83,000 miles in the hands of just three owners from new. It is in very good order throughout and has a full service history from new. The car was supplied new by Porsche main dealer Dick Lovett in Swindon to a regular customer who took delivery in January 1988, he retained the car until August 1990 at which point he part exchanged the car with Dick Lovett for a new 964 model. During his ownership the car covered 16,000 miles and was serviced twice during this period by the supplying dealer. In 1990 Lovetts sold the car to another regular customer, he obviously liked the car as he kept it until 2008, during his ownership the mileage increased to 68,000 miles. The car was in regular use until 2001 and was regularly serviced by Dick Lovett as shown in the original stamped service book and a file of invoices. In 2001 the owner purchased a new 911 Turbo but could not bear to part with the Commemorative and so it was put in storage. In 2008 the last owner purchased the car following a comprehensive search for a good original Carrera. During his four years of ownership the mileage has increased to 83,000 miles, the car has been serviced during this time by well-known specialist Bob Watson Engineering. This year the car returned to Dick Lovett for servicing, a major service and full inspection was completed following which a number of areas requiring attention were noted. Every aspect of this report was then adressed, suffice it to say in excess of £6,000 was spent to ensure the car is in excellent mechanical order. The exhaust system was replaced as were all tyres, brakes and shock absorber inserts. A number of small oil leaks were fixed and a full geometry check completed. Lastly, the very good Porsche Classic Stereo was fitted which incorporates navigation, Bluetooth, CD and DAB tuner hidden behind a period styled fascia. A number of Dick Lovett invoices are on file documenting the work completed and any prospective purchaser is welcome to contact this Porsche dealer directly to discuss if required.
