Lister was created by Brian Lister in 1954, in the late 50s it became famous with sport cars powered by the famous Jaguar “D” Type engines. They were extremely quick ones in short distance races however in 1959, Lister turned its back on motorsport. The famous Lister cars from this period are now priceless collectibles and front line runners in historic races. The name survived in the 80s with tuning work based on Jaguar XJS however in the mid 90s Lister came back to international motorsport with the outstanding “Storm. It’s technically a fantastic mid front engine car with honeycomb chassis, pushrod suspension, Jaguar V12 7.0 liter engine ( from the Jaguar-TWR XJR12 Group C ) and so on. They competed in GT1 class against McLarens and Ferrari F40s in British GT, FIA GT and Le Mans. In 1999 when the regulation changed Lister developed a new car around the Storm concept to comply with the new GT1class, called “Storm GTM”. Despite strong opposition from other top teams in FIA-GT the little make managed to win the World Championship in 2000, they also won twice the British GT. The Listers were always front runners from 1999 to 2005 and scored many victories. Only 6 “Storm GTM” were built and 5 did survive. Dramatically spectacular and successful they are proud heirs of the fabulous Listers from the 50s, another great Bristish piece in the motorsport history.
This Lister Storm is chassis number “GTM005” it was entered in FIA – GT from 2001 to 2003 as a factory race car. It did a lot of good results including one win at Anderstorp in 2003 and another at Oschersleben though it was DSQ. Still in late 2003 specifications it’s fitted with late upgrades on engine, transmission ( Hewland sequential ), front suspension and bodywork. It was completely restored in 2007/2008 into its original colors from its major win at Anderstorp and was invited to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June. It had a huge success there and proved again to be an extremely quick car. Engine has very low hours and the car entirely serviced in May/June with extensive work done. Being in fully race ready condition, it would be a very interesting entry in the new GT90s Revival Series, being as quick as McLaren F1s. Built for long endurance racing, the Storms are also easy to maintain and reliable. The driving is incredible, very easy and amazingly fast. In the car’s file they rare many pictures from the FIA GT days, a letter from Lister about racing history and many great documents from its life. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a great piece from the GT World Championship history http://www.fiagt.com/newsitem.php?key=1673 and the only Storm in perfect original condition, fully race ready.
