| Chassis 661083 is a matching numbers 5-owner XK120, which we believe has covered only 75,000 miles from new. The car was sold originally to the Chairman of St. Hellier Garage, Rolls Royce and Jaguar dealers for the Channel Islands, and it is believed, remained in his possession until 1977, when it had completed 42,000 miles. It is believed that this was the sixth from last XK120 built. With the previous owner for 15 years, the car has been subject to an older restoration to bodywork, mechanicals, and trim, and has been described as “an extremely well preserved vehicle with known history, well documented and original low mileage, which has been fastidiously maintained in virtually pristine condition over many years irrespective of cost. Only minor attention to detail could potentially put this vehicle into a concours class contender.” Major work by Jaguar specialists includes: • Replacement of front hub bearings, steering and suspension rubbers and two brake cylinders in 1998 at 68,715 miles. • Full engine rebuild in 1999 at 68,955 miles, carried out by Jaguar specialists Bristol Classic and Sportscars Ltd.. It was clear that the engine had not previously been apart as all dimensions were standard. An example of the original Wiman Piston and Vandervell bearings shells has been kept with the car. A C-Type head was also fitted at that time, supplied in unleaded form by VSE. The original head is available, though it requires repair to corrosion, which is why the engine was stripped at that time. • Radiator clean and repair and replacement of thewater pump in 2000 at 69,300 miles. The owner has also replaced the exhaust system (now stainless steel), shock-absorbers, other brake cylinders, rear axle oil seals, carburettor seals and new tyres during routine maintenance during the intervening period and fitted a Kenlow fan in 2008. The car is in excellent condition throughout and is only offered for sale because of the limited use being made of it. This is a wonderful car, and in our opinion one of the best XK120s we have seen.
