This original Cooper S is finished to a very high specification and has successfully completed a number of Classic Rallies. The substantial history file indicates the substantial preparation that has been put into the car over the years.
This example was built on the 6th August 1969 and was dispatched on the 2nd December that year to dealer Marshalsea Brothers Limited in Taunton, Somerset. The car passed through several owners until it was purchased in 1998 as the basis for a restoration to rally specification. Over the following ten years an open cheque book no expense spared nut and bolt restoration was completed. Work included replacement steel panels as required, bare metal respray, all stainless nuts bolts and screws, welded subframes and zinc plated components, all petrol brake and wiring looms fitted inside, twin SU fuel pumps, Hi-lo suspension, Spax adjustable shocks, adjustable tie rods, heated front and rear screens, four point jacking, Minilite wheels, roll cage , full harness belts, quality BW carpet, leather knee pads, navigator grab handle, map light, fire extinguisher, dual wiring for navigator, navigator floor horn button, ex works trip speedometer, ex works 1 1/2" carbs, four blade electric fan, oil cooler, original 1960's spot and fog lamps mounted on ex works prototype four lamp bar, twin towing eyes, boot mount reversing light, air horns, alloy front sump guard, stainless battery box guide, RC40 exhaust system and Brantz rally meter along with a host of further detail.
There are many further invoices to date showing constant maintenance and upgrades as the car is used. Complete with a FIVA passport the car has been used in a number of classic road rallies and is eminently suitable for these or for just fast enjoyable road use. A great Mini that would require great expenditure and effort to recreate.
