French title• Extraordinary supercar, limited production• Exceptional performances, 330 km/h• Porsche design and build qualityOne owner, 5000 km from new2005 Porsche Carrera GTA genuine technological showcase, the Porsche Carrera GT was first presented as a concept car at the Paris Motor Show in 2000, and was produced commercially between 2003 and 2006. This exceptional supercar, designed to compete with the Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes SLR and Ford GT, attracted all the superlatives, beginning with its performance. It went from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.9 seconds and was capable of a top speed of 330 km/h. The Carrera GT followed the 959 and displayed a body that fused elegance, sportiness and virility. Its four covered headlights, large side inlets and tapered shape hinted at successful competition models, such as the Spyder 550 and the 917, while the double-bubble roof stretching back over the engine lid was race car-inspired. This lid housed a formidable 40-valve V10 mid-positioned engine, with 5.7-litres producing 612 bhp at 8,000 rpm, and enough torque to enable use at low speed. In general terms, the car made use of technical solutions tested on endurance racing models, drawing on the unparalleled experience of the Stuttgart marque.The aerodynamics were particularly well designed: a rear spoiler lifted from 120 km/h and the shape of the floor, opening onto a rear diffuser, generated a downforce that increased with the speed. As expected with Porsche, particular attention was paid to the weight of the car, which remained below 1,380 kg, due to the use of composite materials such as carbon, and CFP for the strong chassis, prepared by Porsche.
