| The car was supplied new 12.11.54 to Mrs Edith Field of San Francisco California. It is one of two special bodied Aston Martins build by Carrozzeria Bertone in Italy during the 1950’s upon the instruction of Stanley Harold Arnolt II, or ‘Wacky’ as he was known to his friends. He was a self made millionaire and in 1950 he opened a foreign car dealership in Chicago selling Aston Martin, Bristol, MG, Riley, Morris, Bentley and Rolls Royce. His love of foreign cars prompted him to visit motor shows throughout Europe. During his visit to the Turin Salon in 1951 that he spotted an MG car on the Bertone stand. Nuccio Bertone was financially struggling at this time in post-war Italy. Wacky approached Nuccio to produce several MGs for him and then the following year he placed an order for five bodies of a new Aston Martin 2/4 chassis. These became the work of Franco Scaglione who worked for Bertone at that time. The car was successfully entered into the 1955 Concours at Pebble Beach by Mrs Edith Field and received 3rd place in the Two Seater Sports Car category. And had not been shown or seen since. The car since passed through a number of owners one of which was Innes Ireland who was a works racing driver for Aston Martin before a full restoration was carried out 2007 and recently completed. The Bertone came first in its class at the Autumn Aston Martin Concours
