Whereas the TZ3 Corsa, commissioned by Martin Kapp, was designed with a carbonfibre chassis, coupled with a tubular frame and handbeaten lightweight aluminium body, the TZ3 Stradale boasts a carbonfibre body and mechanical components from the Viper ACR. This is the first time that U.S. power has been matched with a TZ body; hence Zagato’s claim that this is the ‘first American Alfa Romeo’.

As with the TZ3 Corsa, the Stradale version of the car carries a Kamm Tail, the solution adopted for the ‘Coda Tronca’ which Zagato tested in the early 1960s – and which subsequently graced the renowned Alfa Romeo TZ and TZ2 models.

The first TZ3 Stradale is now in the ownership of Eric King – an American Alfa and Zagato collector, who is also a board member of the Saratoga Automobile Museum. Meanwhile the second and third of the nine cars are destined for Japan and Europe.
