Description

The Renault 4CV was debuted at the 1946 Paris Salon and offered French consumers a new outlook on economical postwar motoring. The rear-engine and rear-wheel-drive model was a resounding sales success, and by 1954, 500,000 4CVs had been built, with production ultimately ceasing in 1961.

This lovely example from 1954 was purchased by the Mullin Collection at auction in 2013, at Retromobile in Paris. Documentation on file details tasteful upgrades that were applied to this 4CV during its restoration by a Renault expert prior to 2010. The 845 cc Ventoux engine is from a later Renault Dauphine and is fitted with a large sump and special camshaft. A large Jaeger rev-counter has been fitted, as have larger rear brake drums and four rear shock absorbers. Attractively finished and eminently charming, this Renault is worthy of your close inspection.

*Please note that all of the Lots in this Auction have been in long-term static storage at the Mullin Automotive Museum and may not be currently operational. They will require mechanical attention and in some cases significant restoration prior to any road use.
