Description

Chassis No. WP0AD2A92CS766676

The simple and discreet "turbo" lettering on the rear of a Porsche 911 is perhaps as iconic as the marque itself. Today, it stands for a nearly half-century high performance legacy that was earth-shattering upon its introduction and has, in the intervening years, been refined to such a level that borders on perfection. From its steering and brakes to its weight distribution, handling, suspension, and of course, its turbocharged boxer-six engine, the Porsche Turbo has always been in a class all its own.

The model year represented by this car is of the "997" generation, which in and of itself has become an especially desirable series in the water-cooled years, not only for its performance but also its purity of design, size, and proportions. Of particular note is that this car is a later production example, benefitting from the "Gen II" improvements introduced in 2009, including most notably an all-new six-cylinder engine, producing some 500 horsepower with revised BorgWarner VTG "Variable Turbine Geometry," lighter construction, direct fuel injection, a revised dry-sump lubrication system, larger intake, refined exhaust system, and turbo boost of some 11.6 psi.

This particular car was commissioned new in the especially desirable color scheme of Black over Black with a six-speed manual transmission. Options included heated front seats, heated steering wheel, attractive 19-inch Turbo II wheels, as well as Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche's Dynamic Light System (PDLS), Sirius satellite radio, the interior carbon package, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel in carbon, and the Sport Chrono Package with Dynamic engine mounts. This final option allows the car to overboost for a number of seconds, thereby increasing peak available torque over a narrow RPM range – a truly fantastic feature for performance-minded drivers.

Following this car's delivery and initial sale through the Porsche dealership in Parsippany, New Jersey, the clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report indicates a regular history of dealership service thereafter. In fact, the car did not leave the general until 2017, as it was sold to a buyer in Illinois, at which point it had only accumulated 5,000 miles. By the time it arrived in North Carolina in 2021, it had only added the balance of the miles with which it was offered today, in excellent overall condition.

Any 911 Turbo warrants close attention from interested enthusiasts, but it is no overstatement to suggest that a 997 Turbo in Black/Black with a six-speed manual transmission, desirable options, and only 5,432 miles indicated at the time of cataloging, is an extremely rare opportunity – so rare, in fact, that it would be extremely difficult to replicate in exactly this specification!
