The Sceptre of 1963 was a sporting version of the Hillman Super Minx, sharing the basic body shell but with re-designed front and tail treatments. The grille was lifted straight from the Sunbeam Rapier, flanked by side grilles and with hooded twin headlamps. The engine is tuned 1592cc unit with twin carbs, giving 80bhp and 88 mph top speed. Close ratio four speed box has overdrive and servo front discs are standard. Internally, it benefits from a high specification trim and round instruments in individual hooded binnacles. The Mk.II of 1965 received an 85bhp, 1725cc power plant, re-styled front and optional auto box. It was subsequently replaced in 1967 by Hillman Hunte
