Luxembourg Registration• Ultra-sporty model• Civilised and usable• Future collectors carSold new in France2002 Porsche 996 GT2Appearing in 1998, the Porsche 996 was the first 911 to switch from an air-cooled engine to a more conventional water-cooled system. But a 911 will always be a 911 ! More sporty extrapolations were produced alongside standard, civilised models and in this case it was the GT2 which first appeared at the Detroit Motor Show in 2001. For the engine, Porsche retained the turbo, but whereas the 996 Turbo presented in 2000 produced 420 bhp, further development increased the horsepower to 462 bhp and more torque. The car’s weight was trimmed by more than 150 kg, without compromising security or comfort. Air conditioning, airbags and electric windows were included. The car’s performance didn’t disappoint, with a top speed of 314 km/h, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and 1 to 200 km/h in just 12.9 seconds. It took a mere 21.9 seconds to cover a kilometre from a standing start ! The car offered is a 2002 model sold new in France. It is fitted with various options including X71 aluminium-backed odometer, X70 door sill in special steel, XSE and XSF left and right bucket seats. Presented in white with rear spoiler and carbon mirrors. The car has 45,700 km on the odometer and is in excellent overall condition. A Porsche guarantee certificate tells us that in 2006 it had covered 24,707 km. The car will be sold with its technical manuals in French. To make the car more versatile, adjustable Moton clubsport suspension has been fitted on the wheels. In the hands of its owner from Luxembourg since 2009, this is a fantastic sports car with the huge advantage of being reliable and easy to use.
