Romans International is a family run business having been founded in 1994 by Paul Jaconelli who today runs the business alongside his middle son Tom. The success story of Paul Jaconelli is a fascinating one which began in the late 1960s when Paul started out as a Saturday boy washing cars for a garage. By the age of 19 Paul had started doing up and selling cars he had bought at auction until he had enough money to rent his own pitch and start up a garage. In 1984 Paul was persuaded to take over a well-known local business called HF Edwards in Epsom, a franchised dealership for Peugeot and Fiat. It was here that Paul alongside his brother Marc developed the business into the biggest Fiat dealership in the UK winning the global award for Fiat Dealer of The Year for three consecutive years. Paul’s real passion was for supercars and he started developing a business alongside HF Edwards which specialised in parallel imports to wealthy customers who were frustrated by the lack of supply in the franchised network. When HR Owen (then known as Malaya Group) bought out HF Edwards, Paul decided to leave the company and start his very own dealership which specialised in supercars. He acquired the name Romans International in 1994 and initially started selling cars from his own home before setting up a small showroom in Epsom. Through sheer hard work and determination Romans started to grow year after year before moving to it’s current home in Banstead in 2002. The business has continued to evolve over the years and is now well established as one of the leading supercar dealerships in the UK. Whilst Paul’s brother Marc and Paul’s eldest son Ben have both had stints working in the business, it wasn’t until 2011 when Tom joined the business and in recent years the company has seen rapid growth and in 2017 was recognised by The Financial Times as one of Europe’s fastest growing companies. Romans has always remained a single site independent dealership. It has built its reputation on having the best cars in the world for sale prepared to the very highest standard whilst offering customers an unsurpassed level of service.
