Offered for sale is this 1991 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer. Named by Singer as “the Lyon Commission '', it is finished in the Porsche factory color Leaf Green over a tan leather interior. The engine is built by Ed Pink Racing, and is a 4.0 liter version of the air-cooled Porsche boxer six-cylinder engine, producing 390 hp, and runs power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

This Singer started life as a 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2, using the 964 chassis that Singer employed for all of the Reimagined 911’s to that point. It was fully stripped to its bare shell, with multiple sections replaced by carbon-fiber panels, and reconstructed by hand. It was completed in June of 2021 at the Singer facility, based at the time in Sun Valley, California.

There are an almost incomprehensible array of companies that specialize in the modification of the venerable Porsche 911. To put an even finer point on it, there are countless *good* companies that specialize in reworking the iconic German coupe. The reasons go beyond just the steady popularity of the model over the last seven decades, and speak loudly about the innate durability of the model. The 911 has earned the reputation as an engineering triumph, always built to a higher standard than strictly necessary, which lends itself well to tuning companies looking to push the performance without breaking the car. Whatever changes a tuner or builder throws at it, the 911 thrives under the added pressure. Then, there’s the added level of fondness for the original 911 formula. For a lot of long time enthusiasts, that moment in the late 1990’s when Porsche went from air cooled engines to water-cooled was practically life-altering - in the interest of emissions complaints and power development, leaving the aircooled engine behind had many Porsche enthusiasts feeling left behind as well. So even as the newer 911’s have continued to improve with each generation and update, the fanaticism for the older models have increased at an even faster rate.

These truths all easily explain the existence as well as popularity of these 911’s reimagined by Singer. It might be a stretch to call Rob Dickinson’s creations humble in origin, but it was a true desire to enhance the best parts of those 964 chassis 911’s that led him to this result. At the engineering level, taking advantage of modern advances in engine technology, drivetrain and chassis material and building techniques allow Singer to create a machine that even Porsche couldn’t match back in the late 80’s and early 90’s - and certainly not at a price point that would allow them to compete.

So with the carbon fiber structural chassis upgrades, the cutting edge braking and suspension technology, and the incredible 4.0 liter flat six engine built by the legendary Ed Pink, the stat sheet is impressive. What adds to that is the stunning level of detail that Singer brings to EVERY aspect of the trim and materials used in completing a build - a process that easily takes many months to complete. Some basic changes are immediately apparent, like the “backdated” fenders and bumpers that resemble the earliest 911’s and give it a more classic appearance, or the Wheels that mimic the classics Fuchs five-spoke design.

But it’s the level of detail you see in every Singer that is truly special. And it’s the kind of detail that is easy to miss, not only subtly different from “stock”, but completely bespoke with multiple choices available to the customer - truly one-of-one for each example.
