Beschreibung

De Tomaso acquired Maserati in 1976 and introduced the Biturbo range (twin turbo engine) with a compact body, different from the previous Maseratis: the 222 and the Calif are part of the Biturbo family, and The Biturbo Spyder made its debut at the 1984 Turin Show. With styling by Carrozzeria Zagato, the Biturbo Spyder was Maserati's first open-top model in 12 years, since the Gibli Spyder. Of course, it was based on the two-door model, but the Spyder's top priority was its styling when fully open, so the wheelbase was shortened by 114 mm, resulting in a compact overall length of just over 4 m. The common name "Spyder Zagato" is a sort of nickname given to the car later on. The interior is decorated with a gold watch, the symbol of the Biturbo, and the luxurious use of wood and leather.

The car for sale is an officially imported 2.8i by us, Garage-Italya. Most of Spyder models are in black or in red, but this one is a rare body colour called Dark Aqua Marina Met. It is hard to tell from the photos, but it is a beautiful colour like the deep sea mixed with blue metallic and green metallic. The body is combined with a natural leather top, creating a very elegant atmosphere. The top has been re-covered and the vinyl rear window is in beautiful condition. The air conditioning has also just been repaired, so it works well for a biturbo, although not as well as in modern cars. With the car open-topped, you can listen to the sound of the V6 twin-turbo in the night breeze. This is a car to be enjoyed in that way.
