Known from the beloved French Gendarme films, this iconic Citroën Méhari is guaranteed to put a smile on any face. The name “Mehari” refers to the word “Méharist,” which originated in the camel cavalry of the French Foreign Legion. The philosophy of the car is quite similar to that of the cavalry's favorite mode of transport: relatively high off the ground, low consumption and above all very light, making it ideal for various terrains and adventures. What originally began as an idea to build an “off-road vehicle” using parts from Citroën grew into one of the most distinctive and iconic cars of all time. His creative vision led to the birth of a vehicle that was not only practical to handle, but more importantly exuded a unique style and charm.

The Méhari was produced between 1968 and 1988 and is largely made up of shared parts with the 2PK, the Dyane and the Citroën Ami, among others. It is a car that evokes nostalgia and a sense of freedom, perfectly suited to the relaxed atmosphere of southern France.

This Citroën is in excellent condition both inside and out. The bright green body shows no signs of use and the refurbished paint is in tiptop condition. Rust is nowhere to be found on this car, by the way, as the entire body is made of ABS plastic, which ensures that the Mehari is extremely light, but at the same time makes it extremely durable.

The optional white hood is rolled up, the metal chain on the driver's side is opened, and a seat is taken in the soft crisp white leather seat. Even before in an instant the engine is started, one can breathe a sigh of relief; the vacation feeling sneaks up on you. As soon as the key is turned, the Mehari awakens in a quiet humming manner, ready to be taken on an adventurous drive. This is what the Méhari was made for: Nostalgia, vacation and adventure!

Driving is like driving a 2CV: all actions feel extremely light and the gearshift is not between the two seats on the floor, but rather in the dashboard! The first gear is selected and the little car seems to drive by itself. The small 600 cc engine has no trouble pushing the light car forward. Gentle shifting to second. Steering feels light, easy and extremely smooth.

Staying in this Méhari is extremely cozy, alone or with the whole family. This makes this Citroën not only stylish, but also a practical vehicle for all kinds of adventures from beach outings to rural trips.
