Beschreibung
Aston Martin V8 Vantage V600 Le Mans - #6 of 40
Launched in 1999 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Aston Martin’s outright victory at the 1959 Le Mans 24hr race, the V8 Vantage Le Mans was the ‘last of the line’ model produced and limited to just 40, individually numbered examples.
Hand built at the end of the era of coach-built Aston Martin production and a fitting swansong to the Tadek Marek designed V8 engine, each car, taking approximately 12 weeks to build, the V8 Vantage Le Mans came with a price tag approaching a quarter of a million pounds.
Each car was individually specified and delivered, in either 550bhp or 600 bhp configuration. The ultimate of the Vantage line, this Le Mans edition V8 Vantage with full V600 specifications, offers commanding performance in supreme comfort and marks a seminal moment in the significant history of the marque.
Built and delivered in 2000, this exceptional V600 Le Mans is finished in Mendip Blue with Parchment and Navy Blue hide interior, complemented with aluminised interior finishers and supplied with the optional quad exhaust tailpipes, one of just three examples with this specification. Fully equipped with all available factory options, including the more powerful 600 bhp engine and 5-speed manual transmission.
The Le Mans edition’s suitably uprated AP Racing brakes and optimised Koni damped suspension, combined with the unique improved aerodynamics and distinctive styling, which included a traditional Vantage closed grille with twin openings, bonnet cooling ducts, redesigned wing vents (with a resemblance to those on the DBR1), 5 spoke magnesium alloy hollow spoke Dymag wheels with centre caps, machined alloy fuel filler and deep front spoiler, provides a quoted 200 mph top speed and acceleration from 0-60 mph, in 3.9 seconds. Performance numbers matched by a very few cars in 1999!
Whilst the V600 Le Mans undoubtedly offers superior performance to its V550 stablemate, the interior also received a significant revision including unique instrumentation, switchgear and interior appointments, all adding to the luxurious appeal and comfort of the Le Mans edition. Those in the know, will attest to the ground covering ability, comfort and lack of intrusion on offer, whilst maintaining the high speeds available in this ultimate Grand Tourer, still able to hold its own in performance terms with more contemporary supercars.
In excellent condition and known to us throughout its life, servicing and maintenance has been carried out regularly by Aston Martin and ourselves, without consideration to costs, in preserving this evocative edition of the Vantage bloodline. A Leather-bound history file containing its detailed service history accompanies the car, which is supplied freshly serviced to schedule, prepared to our usual high standards and inclusive of a 12-month warranty.
Supplied with all factory equipment, including the originally supplied Michelin Map and Maglite, showing the 1959 works racing team’s route that year, to Le Mans, France.
This remarkable car is now available for viewing and sale, at our Hertfordshire showrooms.
